Radiometer

I came across this nifty device when I was watching David Choi's music video 'That girl'.
I was instantly attracted to it, like insects towards light.

A radiometer, also known as Crooke's radiometer is a device that picks up electromagnetic waves and spins when the radiated energy is strong enough to overcome friction. The easiest way to spin this thing is to place it next to the window and let the sun's ray do all the magic.

TADA!

So, with my creativeness and skills... I pimped up my own radiometer!
I added 4 blue LEDs to power the radiometer and a green LED just to make it look spacey.
I chose the color blue because through PE's equation, the color blue has the shortest wave length and highest frequency among the visible light spectrum. Thus, the color blue has the highest energy transfer rate which in turn spins the radiometer's vanes faster compared to other colors of the light spectrum.

Power down.

Power up!

Awesome huh? If you really want to know how it works, go read it view wiki. The key word is THERMODYNAMICS. ;D

Usually the radiometer is powered by the sun light, but I like mine to spin at night when I go to bed. So I used an artificial light source to power the meter up at night. >:P
