Hosanna

Wonderful Lord, I thank You for all the things You've provided in my life. My friends and family are true blessings to me and I'm grateful and delighted they are part of my life. I thank You for each and everyday that I could walk, live and experience life in this world.

Lord, I pray that through Your love and mercy that You could re-direct my brothers and sisters who might have strayed away from You. I ask in favor Lord that You may guide them back to You Father instead of seeking other worldly sources to comfort them.

And finally Lord, most of us are in our university exam month and I pray that You would allow us to have a healthy and focused mind on our studies. Let our brains be like a sponge and soak up all that is necessary and required in our exams.

I love You and thank You heavenly Father. You are truly magnificent.
Amen

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was the prayer I made last night before going to bed, after I realized how I was just so caught up with uni stuff that I just somehow shut God away when it comes to education and uni work. This is one thing I have to implement regularly, not only during exams.

Well, I'm off to the library to soak up more 'info'.
God bless and see you guys back here in July.

Ming :P

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdoms cause
As I go from earth to Eternity

Examens

Hey readers and (stalkers). Hahahaha!
My exams are in less then 3 weeks time! (Nooo!) and my final paper will be on the 24th of June!
So between now till then, I won't be on Facebook or blogger cause I know I'll be easily distracted.

I do hope you guys can pray for me in these coming hectic weeks.

Time for me to be zombie-fied again (yeah, like every semester finals) and yeap, crunch everything into my head. Gonna have my last clan meeting next Saturday with the other houses churches for prayers and reviews on the Stitches and 50K events.

Uhhhhhh.....

Apart from all the books, notes, lab reports and tutorials... I'll be joning the Red Bull Winter Skate Manny Mania Gathering in July. Yes mum (and dad), I've taken up skateboarding again(been 2 months now) since the last time I could recall boarding in KK's bumpy(that is why I stopped) streets... which I think was in 2006.

The streets, parks and skate bowls here are BMX and skateboard friendly and it really has been a joy for me to skateboard around Melbourne, like boarding to Melbourne Central or QV for groceries etc...

The only thing I've noticed though... I'm like 1 out of the 4 asians I've counted the last few months who do board. I wonder why. Hm... :S

Well, till my exam ends... God bless and stay strong in faith and hope!

Ming out!

Pink Martini

Man, I just love Pink Martini!
Their songs are so enjoyable and relaxing. They play a mix of pop and jazz which I absolutely love.

Their band is fairly large about 7-8 members in total excluding the string ensemble!

You've probably already noticed their catchy song titled 'Hey Eugene' which I've set on the blog's media player.

Here's a clip I want to share with mum cause I know she loves songs in French and, if I'm not mistaken, she's in Paris right now and it'll fit the ambiance of where she's at perfectly.

I think I'll take up French next year as my elective. :3

Dieu vous bénisse et ont une très bonne semaine!

Mary and Max

Well, here's an awesome movie that you guys must watch! It's about the lives of 2 different people from 2 different places. Mary who lives in Mount Waverley(the suburb where I used to stay when I first came to Melbourne) and Max who lives in New York somehow formed a strong friendship when Mary was confused by the wonders of the world and all who live in it, and wanted an answer.

Shots from some parts of the movie.

Questions like, where do babies come from, love, sex-ing etc... are all covered in this funny, emotional, wacky animation. The songs and themes used in this movie are spectacular and I love every part of it, especially the 'Que Sera Sera' song that was sung by Pink Martini. It's absolutely magnificent!

Have a listen. It's a bit haunting but superbly beautiful at the same time!

Hope you guys enjoyed the song!
Well, I'm off to bed now. Really tired. Just finished writing my program that runs the CRC-8 CCIT encoding(the pseudo code is about 300 lines long!!!) for my final sem project which I have to present this coming Thursday!

God bless and have an awesome Sunday! :D

Clubbing in the Clubs

Lol, I just had a huge group chit chat at the campus center in Monash and one interesting (and fiery) topic popped up.

Clubbing. (this topic just pops up every now and then, WORD!)

We discussed the purpose of clubbing, the people that go there etc... surprisingly most of us (20 out of the 28 of us) like me, have only been to a club once or twice and don't intend on going again.

We had a small debate between the other 8 who gave excuses like, 'that's the only place we can dance', 'it's about the music' etc... (should see the expressions on our faces).

We were literally like. -_____-

To me, clubs are really dodgy places. It's like a hub attracting sex hungry men (and women) to grind it out and yes, alcohol (and maybe drugs) is involved to elevate the 'high' feeling.

A person once asked another what is clubbing, in which the another replied...

A favorite activity of the moronic majority, this involves being shunted like cattle into a converted warehouse... sadly not to be slaughtered, but to wear ridiculous 'trendy'(slutty) clothes, listen to crap eardrum-shattering music, try to pick up brainless members of the opposite sex, and generally stand around aimlessly in a desperate but pointless attempt to show how cool you are.

When women go out to dance in circles and men go out to hunt them

The act of paying ridiculous amounts of money to enter a dimly-lit, highly-flammable room just to dance for a few hours to overly repetitive music that a 5-year old composed. And you have to dress like you're going to a royal banquet or the bouncer will throw you out. Usually, illegal drugs are served so as to help the attendees tolerate the music.

Basically, partying at a club:)

So yeah, that's basically how I feel about these places. Following the majority doesn't mean it's all good right? So I would love to hear some thoughts from you about this topic of clubbing.

And yes, this is a discussion post.
It's interactive... meaning there's a two way interaction instead of one. Hahaha!

P/S:Oh, oh... here's an awesome quote that I've got from TWLOHA. TWLOHA(more on this next time!) is an non-profit organization that I'm trying to actively be involved in which we present hope and find help for those who are struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide by letting them know freedom, help and rescue is possible and God is still in the business of redemption. :)

D.A.Y.A.Ks does the 50K (Section C & D)

---------------------------------------Section C------------------------------------

Distance: 14KM
Max elevation from start point: 230m
Time of completion(TCOM): 3.2 hours

Hahaha, I just noticed we had very little pics taken during section C and D (think everyone was tired and just wanna cross the line). Section C was the hardest for us due to the constant varying elevations which wore all of us out.

For me, I've probably applied too much pressure to my right ankle and yeah... sprained it. -__-

Other than that, we had a breath taking view of Melbourne from the top of the mountain (yes we were around 600m up).

Most of us started using sticks for support... like elderly men. LOL

Taking a break.

Finally the half way marker... took us a total of 5 hours to reach it. =S

Walking along the woods (around 400m up)

Just love the place! :D

Ankle started to sprain. Took 2 panadols. I can't quit by now, I'm already half way through the race!

LOL.

The never ending trails... very provoking.

A partial view of Melbourne from where we are.

Would love to stay and chill at these places during sem breaks. :P

Arriving at Pitstop 3

Yes!

Another group pic.

Taking a 10 minute rest before heading out. Sec C really drained us.

Stretching out those worn down muscles for the final leg.

---------------------------------------Section D------------------------------------

Distance: 12KM
Max elevation from start point: 250m
Time of completion(TCOM): 3.3 hours

Ah, the last part of the race. We were greeted by the 1000-step walk which is a 45 degree stairwell which we had to climb for 400m or so. I so wanted to give up cause my ankle was killing me! =(

But with the pack leader shouting 'COME ON BOYS, WE CAN DO IT'... we pushed on. =)

The 1000-steps. Gets steeper and steeper.

Anzac memorial

DAYAKs crossed the line after 10.5 hours of travel. HOO RAH!

Mixed expressions. LOL

Chua's 'Yes I've made it through' look.

Can't believe I and the others actually completed the 50K. Finally we have another 'achievement' to brag about! Hahahaha.

One thing for sure, I won't be doing this again. Never. Same goes for bungy jumping. :P

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The purpose for the DAYAKs to run this race is to well... raise up funds for the Dalit kids in India! Saving a life from poverty is a walk in the park. ;D

God bless!

Ming out!

Mother's Day 2010

It was Mother's Day last sunday! Did you guys do anything special for the awesome lady who 'carried' you around in her tummy for 9 long months?

Did you guys...

Jump into her bed while she's still asleep and tell her how awesome she is?

or

Made breakfast in bed for her?

Well I didn't. LOL, wished I could *poof* to KK and do all those with my siblings.
Well, for me and my house church we suited up for this special occasion.

Closed my eyes again. -___-

We want to let all the mums and ladies know that they are awesome, we love em' and they are special. :)

So we 'men in suits' greeted and escorted each and every lady from the church entrance to their seats. Felt really great to see them smile radiantly. Each mother was given a flower and a star to remind them they are special. :D

Waiting for the ladies.

Proud to have a strong, elegant man to walk them to their seats.

All of them we're really happy as you can see. :D

The 'star' dudes. LOL

SUIT UP!

Kids performing a song about 'OBEY-ing' their parents.

Cake for the special occasion. It was huge and yummy!

Everything went smooth and the sermon was awesome. You guys should have a listen @ http://www.lifeexpedition.org/main5/podcast/list
(the others are great too!!!)

Other than that, it's Monday again. More resistors, transistors, diodes and gadgets to play with at the lab. Looking forward to the weekends... which is 4 days from now. RAH RAH!

Till then, God bless and have an awesome week. :)

Xiang, jian, jian, dan, dan, de, Ai!

Ming is having the old 2000 and 2001 Jay Chou song fever. Hahaha. Man, to me his songs are much better back then. It's more 'Jian Dan' which I like.

Was humming and singing parts of the songs that are locked in my head while calculating the low-pass and high-pass filter formulas. LOL

Here's one that I love. And for those who can't understand chinese, a 'best-effort' translation is provided below.

Hope you guys would enjoy it as much as I do! XD

This saturday (which is tomorrow) would be the last time I involve myself in an event before my finals come!!! (5 weeks left). My house church is involved in the Operation Stitches 'Winter Outreach' program where we would be distributing beanies, coats, scarfs etc... to people who are from disadvantaged communities.

To me it's a great way to bless them and if possible, share the gospel with them. We are doing this so that we can show them that, we love them and care for them... with no strings attached!

Hope I can mesmerize the kids with by solving the Rubik's cube. :P

Other than that, it'll be Mother's Day this Sunday. Gonna suit up and escort the pretty ladies to the church. (expect more pics to come!)

------------------------------------------------------------------
To Mimmy:

By the way mum. You're awesome! All the fights, quarrels, *mortal kombats* we had were worth it. Thank you for sacrificing so much time for me and Wey. I hope we didn't cause to much wrinkles or white hair on ya! :P

But yeah, I'm blessed to have you and dad as my lovely parents. One beautiful and the other one 'cute' <--- like Yi would say,

Just telling you in advance cause you'll be heading towards UK this weekend.
Enjoy your trip!

Your awesome handsome super 'geek' wanna be son,
Ming

------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, my dear readers! Here's a quote from a movie called Mary and Max which is a must watch!

'God gave us relatives... but thank God we can choose our friends', and like my parents always say, 'CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS WISELY'.

God bless and have an awesome weekend peeps!

D.A.Y.A.Ks does the 50K (Section B)

---------------------------------------Section B------------------------------------

Distance: 9KM
Max elevation from start point: 280m
Time of completion(TCOM): 2.1 hours

So the DAYAKs went through Section A easily without any injuries to any of the team members.
Section B was lil bit harder due to some mild elevations from to suburbs to the Dandenong Trails.

Great weather, awesome scenary for us to enjoy... before the grueling Section C.

DAYAKs running through the urban landscape

Pictures! We 'were' ahead of time.

Point marker.

DAYAKs and the clear blue sky.

Heading towards the Dandenong ranges.

Mixed expressions.

The trail goes on and on. Still remember Chua asking how long will it take us to reach the end of the road. LOL

Entering the woods. No more smooth roads for us.

Awesome place to walk. Melbourne does amaze me every now and then.

Dungs along the trail.
Chris: When life gives you crap, that's when growth happens.

The boys running towards Pitstop 2.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Finally made it. :)

Team taking a 5-minute break before heading towards Pitstop 3 of Section C.

Hot chicken soup.

Energy bars to pump us up.

DAYAKs are head off again.

*to be continued*
