Monash Student

Well, orientation is over and the serious stuff has just began. Sorry for such a late post cuz 80% of the time since last week I was stuck in Uni (and my room) doing assignments and lab work. I've gotta complete 3 units in one trimester which are maths, phys and computer programming for engineers and scientist.

Orientation game LASER WARS! (It's something like paintball without the pain)

I'm starting to miss things at home. I my parents and brothers company. My mom's cooking. My dads pocket money =P JK My kakak(maid) who helps me wash and iron my clothes(this is such a drag... I hate doing that shit). =((((((((

The only free time I have is around 5 p.m. And what does Ming do around that time you may ask? Excercise of course. e.g. walk the dog

And 99% of the time I walk BOBO the pain-in-the-butt(90% of the time) beagle around the neighbouring parks.

Meet bobo the 'KING'

The park trail

Alli walking the 'King' towards his humble servants

The 'knights' waiting for his majesty to arrive

=.=

The neighbor's dogs. Ones called Sandy and the other Sally. You know whats the funny part when both dogs start barking.

The owner goes, 'Sandy, Sally shut the f*ck up.' *Both dogs continue to bark* 'I said shut the f*cking hell up!' And I'm like... wow..... ang moh verbal power. O.o

A pic of my shadow when I was waiting for the bus to Monash

Well, Ill update ASAP when I have the time. I've got MATLAB to play with... awesomely gay program I've got to get used to. (Esp cranking the codes in my brain)

Bah, selamat tinggal!

Dinner @ Melb Central

Well, yesterday night Yi, Alan and I went to Deity Szechuan. Oh man, the food served at DS mostly contain the Szechuan pepper and loads of loads of oil!!!! MAMA MIA! We had tofu with mince pork(spicy), baby spinach with tofu(no 'PEDAS' effect) and Hot Pot with pork meat(PEDAS + PANAS)! The dishes were well balanced and I would recommend those who haven't been to DS.... it's esp good during cold days. *slurp*

Melb Library in the heart of the city

The inner alleys where good restaurants and cafes are usually found.

Most of the dishes we manage to consume b4 the big one came...

*Elevator Music*
Dadada DUM!

Hot Pot (its all oil!!!! and its not a soup... UGH)

Alan seems to love it while Yi... well she took a lil here, a lil there but mostly nibbles. (She's only looking forward to the gelato time at Trampoline)

The small Trampoline store

A variety of flavors for your own liking.

Yi and I shared a Butter Caramel and Tiramisu Midget cup... =.= midget

There's a pub near the Trampoline called Bimbos. From what I heard its a really cool pub. But from what I know they serve of the most best MIDGET pizzas(OH FRODO!) around town during the day. The pizs are loaded with toppings and cheese so yeah... its the MAKE-YOUR-ASS-BIG Diet.

Bimbos pub located just round the corner of Brus something street... =P
But you can easily locate it... Just look for the building with a giant baby on top.

Giant baby! SCARY!

Chris... you should come over, you'll run away from perth once you've experienced the VIC life!

Monash Orientation

Well today was my 1st day at orientation in Monash uni! The place is HUGE! The buildings itself are unique and very futuristic! Just awesome! I saw like loads of interns(international students) on the campus. 13,000 interns according to the Monash statistics.O.o

Well, I've met loads of lecturers and they seem pretty nice and approachable. I'm gonna love it here. I just got my student ID card which allows me to get loads of student privileges! They had to take a photo on the spot with a webcam so the pic was...... long... which made my face long.

The pic taken from my student ID card

I looked my like a familiar tropical fruit....

Like a pineapple.... UGH

I broke off with the group when they were discussing about the visa and accommodation topic. I packed some tortillas for lunch and ate it on the way to Stephens Road. It was stuffed with salami and lots of lettuce with parmesan cheese and caesar salad dressing. It was enough to satisfy my taste buds. :)

Mings 1st home made Tortilla!

Yi and I went to the NAB Bank near Mt. Waverly to open a bank account for myself. The lady working there called Christina who was from Hong Kong was really kind to us. After that I went grocery shopping for our after-lunch snack later. I made soba and teriyaki beef with mushroom.... you can guess the taste.. hahaha *hint: I'm a good cook though*

Allison stormed in my room a little later. Oh boy... she's really cute and funny. A total ABC with a lovely aussie accent. I'm trying to learn some from her as I type. =P She wanted to watch My neighbor totoro and spirited away on my comp, so I just slept on the bed while she hogged the comp.

It was cold then during the afternoon.. it was around 15C

Allison... eyes still glued to the anime

I knew why Yi hated the coldness here. I'm still adjusting to the weather there.

As I'm writing now.. its like 11.54 here and its getting colder. The time in Melb is +3 GMT from Malaysian time. I'll be going down to Melb Central tomorrow to hang out cuz my next program is only on Thursday. I'm going to slumber in my bed now.

Till then cheers... MATE!

Most Livable Place in Aus: Melbourne!

Well, I'm in Mel already! I really love this place. The people, the food, the culture, the weather(thought it changes drastically at times). Melbourne... It's AWESOME!

Well my trip from Kay Kay to Mel took around 1.5 days. My flying route is shown below:

KK(Start)-->Kuching(Transit ETA: 1 hour)-->Singapore(Transit ETA: 5 hours)-->Darwin(ETA: 2 hours)-->Melbourne(End)

I took MAS from KK to Sing. It was good. The service was awesome. The only thing I found disappointing is the Techno kadazan songs.. mixed with the most annoying musical instrument made by dear old mankind.. the B-A-N-J-O.

Sounded like Yogi Bear was playing it.

I reached Sings T2 and transferred to the Budget Terminal. I was really hungry by then. The muffins and cakes looked really good but I decided to chow this down due to 'OUTSIDE INFLUENCES'...

Yeah, a snapple and some salad.

The renovated BT looked better, smelt better too. LOL.

Check-In Counter

TB Cafe

I left Sing around 6.35 to Melbourne on TigerAirways*. The only thing I could recall from that flight was:

1. I was starving
2. A 4 year old screaming 'Make it stop! Make it stop!!!!!' during touchdown in Darwin AND Mel (double noise pollution)[same kid].
3. The only place I found safe from the ever rough China stewards and stewardess.

*Note pls reconsider taking Tiger Airways, to me it's worse than AirAsia plus rough-chinklish-stewards and stewardess. When they 'accidentally' bump you(more like 5 times++) they don't give a dam. They just LOVE to shove u aside.

When I landed at Darwin I was crippled... Actually everyone who took TA was crippled.

Make it stop! Make it stop! - TA passenger

The first thing I did at Darwin was chowing down a quiche and a Mediterranean delight. Yum... that made my tummy smile.

Well, the place I'm staying is pretty good. The room is fully furnished(oh yeah) and equipped with a king sized bed! I'm just 15 minutes away from Monash U and approx 30 from Mel central.

Big boy bed!

My 'play' area.

Well orientation starts tomorrow! I hope to meet a lot of newbies.. :) Just hope dear Yi won't trash my first day.

Will keep u guys updated!

1 DL: Out, out and AWAY!

Well tonight's my last night here. I just had my 'last supper' hahaha, I just love the winter melon soup my mom made. I've just rechecked everything and packed my backpack with books and consumables.

Aunt Fan just wrote me something nice,
'May your journey be filled with tons of blessings, lots of excitement and plenty of magical moments!!! Go shoot for the star Ming!'

Lots of love,
Auntie Ah Thou & Uncle Wayne

I'll do them proud, my family and I'd do this for myself. Wish you guys all the best too!

Ming

17DL.............................2 DL: Quicky Quirks

Wow... it's really easy if u have bluetooth on your pc, sending files and pics are just plain easy.

Well, I'm leaving in 2 days. I'm too excited that's why I'm not excited? Hahaha, that's how my Aunt described me when we went out for dinner. Both Unc Wayne and Aunt Fan told me the golden rules and other advise. I took it and digested it.

The past few days I went on a "OMG shopping spree *paris hilton style* but only with a few needed items... not like her". I've just packed the essentials in 2 large bags, I think I'm ready?! Dam... still can't believe I'm leaving... Sad... but still tolerable(trying to be modest). I've got some new stuff such as nike shoes used for jogging at Melbourne parks & gym, some wool clothes, toiletries, stationary(apparently it's expensive there) and....

TADA! the downsized 6920G! The all new 4930G!

Acer 4930G (the one on the right).

Part of the room....

I'm a guy... messy a times *ahem*

Well, I'll be missing my mates and Peta. =( Hope I can see them sometime in the future.

(L to R): Jonathan 'Crimson' Chin *probably going to KL for U next year*, Arjuna 'BlackBoy' Raj *Will be joining me in Mel*, Daniel 'Tambi Noob' Samraj *Probably KL too for culinary course*, Bryan 'Balayan' Wong^hidden behind James^ *Going to Curtin*, James 'Stitch' Ivan *Going to UTAS W.T.F.!!! Tasmania???*, Chong 'Ah Boy' Chee Wen *Local U... maybe =/*

At Sutera Harbour shore, we were waiting for the sunset.

Granny gave me something, something special, something that meant lots, something handed down from generation to generation for the eldest son of the Hong family to hang on and remember.

It is a gold necklace with a key. It represents that I'm ready to leave home, ready to open the door that leads to a whole NEW WORLD! SO MELBOURNE, BE READY! HERE I COME TO INCREASE YOUR POP BY 1! ROAR!

The Hong necklace.

Well, I'll miss you guys, hope to see you in Melbourne!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
